In one of the more interesting sessions Bob LiVolsi, founder of independent e-book retailer Books On Board, blamed Amazon of destrying the book market by pricing the ebooks at $9.99. According to him this would lead to much lower profit for author and publishers.
Steve Haber, president of Sony’s Digital Reading Business Division, agreed by saying that $9.99 is not a sustainable pricing strategy. Acccording to him the pricing should range anywhere between $10-$20 and should differ from title to title. He supported DRM by saying that it creates an environment where content creators and distributors can make money.

The panelist wher divided on the future of advertising in books. Few believed that the advertising stills exists in the books (very very very small scale ) and might marginally increase with the spread of ebooks. However, everyone agreed that a viable and more practical solution would have to emerge for this kind of advertising to take main stage:

Coole-er ebook reader recently tied up with overdrive, this tie-up increases the number of books offered through the reader device to 2 million in 42 language.
These ebook readers are priced at $249 and support 42 ebook format (EPUB, TXT, JPEG and PDF). the most interesting feature is that you can share the ebook with 5 other users :). Thought the price of the device is less than the Kindle the price of the ebooks is higher than that of kindle
Scribd – the youtube of document recently did a deal with Wiley to start selling few of their ebooks (dummies etc) through their site. However, today they decided to take Amazon head on. The CEO of the company said that they will start selling the ebooks to Kindle users (Amazon till now has been sole seller of ebooks to Kindle users). Will be interesting to see the losgistics of this. Let wait and watch.
